There it resulted in a magical collaboration with the inhabitants of Ana\u2019s birthplace, the village of Mund\u00e3o.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Open Sans',sans-serif;\">Photography interspersed with poetic text, cyanotypes, and votive offerings. This personal story explores transgenerational trauma, longing, migration, and the experiences when divided between two cultures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Open Sans',sans-serif;\">A hundred years on, as similar stories are being told all over the world, it is the perfect time to share in this story.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Open Sans',sans-serif;\">Ana originally went to Brazil as a child and never returned to her motherland. Whilst dying from Alzheimer\u2019s in Brazil, she started to believe she still had friends in her place of birth. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Open Sans',sans-serif;\">Leticia went to find those imaginary friends and invited them to write her a postcard. With passion, the villagers wrote postcards to Ana. They depicted real and fictional events in their own words and with unique photos. Her personal photographic work concentrates on interactions with people and often start with an invitation to participate. Focusing on simple ideas, her work hopes to touch on notions of identity, belonging, memory and dreams.\r\n\r\nLeticia\u2019s work has been exhibited in a number of group and solo shows in the UK and abroad. It has featured in various magazines such as the Sunday Times, The Independent, Telegraph and the Guardian, as well as books on the history of Latin America and Brazilian photography. Two monographs have been published on Leticia\u2019s work: \u2018And Now My Children Know\u2019 (Quarentena Books- Brazil 2021) and \u2018Invisible Lives\u2019 (Vision On, UK, 2000). She has also received various awards and grants for her work.\r\n\r\nPhotography allows me to interact with people and nature. The images created are a consequence of those encounters. A record and an invitation to cry, laugh and create together.
